Trump betrayed his people!  Why you should trust yours:

There has been uproar and media outrage about Donald Trump’s latest discretions.  It seems a day cannot go by without him doing something vastly ‘unpresidential’ and ‘cofefe’.  This time, however, I have taken notice.  A leader should never leave his people feeling betrayed and restless.  The mutual trust between America and its president has been broken.  It is entirely Trump’s fault.  Trump trusted outsiders instead of his own people and thus broke that sacred loyalty.

 

Why Trust is important:

Human beings have evolved together.  We flourish in the habitat of social cooperation and teamwork.  Every group working together to achieve a singular goal is a team, be that a country, a company or even a family unit.  Trump implicitly told his team that he did not want, need or value them at all.

Trust among members of a team increase productivity, morale and their overall effectivity in reaching the ultimate goal. 

Every part of the team will be able to do their jobs more effectively if they trust in the work their comrades are doing around them.  Imagine, if you will, two Bronze Age armies facing off.  They stand shoulder to shoulder and trust fully in the abilities and intentions of the men around them.  Trump has caused conflict among his own ranks.  His soldiers look to each other with contempt and distrust, just as he does not trust them.

It seems a cliché to say it once more, but “A house divided cannot stand”.

How to build Trust:

 

Listen:

An open door policy is always an admirable one.  You get the chance to listen to the problems affecting your team, and thus, your business.  Learn to value their suggestions and advice.

Speak:

Be open about your vision and intent for the business.  If your staff know the strategy as well as the plan they can adapt to changing situations better and drive progress ever forward.

Empower:

Do not micromanage!  This is a red flag when it comes to the trust between a leader and staff.  Let them own their daily responsibilities and give them some leeway for initiative.  Two minds are better than one and if everyone involved is concerned with making your business greater than it ever was, success is within reach.

 

 

If you wish to be successful, learn from the mistakes of others.  Trump, although a great salesman, is failing as a leader.  Trust in your team and do not let them feel betrayed or undervalued.  People are the assets that drive progress and success, if you have chosen wisely, you have no need to fear.
