Father’s Day is up next on the long list of pointless holidays imposed upon us by Capitalism and Corporate Greed! Is that really what’s happening? Why would we all be so foolish as to celebrate them anyway if this were the case?
No, I would argue that there is a far more wholesome reason for these little holidays. We kind of need them.
When was the last time you bought your parents gifts just because? A while ago wasn’t it? Birthdays are the same deal. Sometimes we just need a little nudge to show our friends and family the appreciation they deserve.
A couple of people would beg to differ and I will now debunk those people’s arguments!
Uumm, excuse me? Would you like to look your mother in the eye and explain to her why she only needs to be loved once a year? Yes, yes, yes, you love her any other day of the year too, but you aren’t that great at showing it.
Every system has bugs. This is an exception not the rule.
By whom? No, no one is forcing you to do anything. Have a picnic, write a song or do anything else to show you care. Your degree of participation in Capitalism is a choice.
Put any other arguments in the comments below and I will get to them shortly.
